Jafari Makoka is a finance and auditing professional with over a decade of experience in accounting and auditing. He holds a Master’s Degree in Accounting and Finance from Mzumbe University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Dar es Salaam. He is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA-T) and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).

He currently serves as the Chief Internal Auditor at the Medical Store Department (MSD), where he leads internal audits, ensures compliance with governance frameworks, and plays a pivotal role in improving organizational controls and risk management. Before MSD, he worked as a Principal Internal Auditor at Air Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL), assisting the Chief Internal Auditor in executing comprehensive audit plans and addressing governance issues. His earlier roles included senior internal auditor at TANESCO, where he specialized in fraud investigation and internal control audits, and senior external auditor at EY, where he audited various sectors, including banking, mining, and education.

He has attended numerous specialized training programs on public procurement, risk management, Governance, Accounting, and aviation. He is an active member of several professional organizations, including the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA), the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), and the Institute of Internal Auditors Tanzania (IIA).

Jafari’s professional journey reflects his deep knowledge of finance, auditing, and risk management, which has made him a highly respected figure in his field. He continues contributing to the growth and development of internal auditing in Tanzania.

About MSD

Medical Stores Department (MSD) was established by the Act of Parliament No.13 of 1993 as an autonomous department under the Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children responsible for developing, maintaining and managing an efficient and cost effective system of procurement, storage and distribution of approved medicines and medical supplies required for use by all public health facilities.
