Hassan is a seasoned professional with over 17 years of experience in planning, monitoring, and evaluation, complemented by a strong foundation in finance and risk management. His career spans multiple regions, allowing him to cultivate a well-rounded expertise in strategic oversight and operational efficiency. Holding master’s degrees from the University of Groningen and the University of Dar es Salaam, Hassan initially pursued an academic path before transitioning into the corporate sector. In 2017, he joined the Medical Stores Department (MSD), where he assumed a pivotal role in corporate risk management, spearheading initiatives to enhance risk mitigation and strategic decision-making.

Hassan has led the MSD Reform project in recent years, driving transformative initiatives in health commodity manufacturing, investment, and organizational transformation. His leadership has been instrumental in executing large-scale, multi-million-dollar donor-funded malaria mass campaign projects across multiple regions in Tanzania. His ability to navigate complex operational challenges while ensuring efficiency and accountability has solidified his reputation as a key figure in Tanzania’s public health and supply chain sectors.

Beyond his contributions to the health sector, Hassan played a significant role in Tanzania’s successful bid to co-host the 2027 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) alongside Kenya and Uganda. His involvement in this high-profile initiative demonstrates his expertise in strategic planning and stakeholder engagement at an international level. Through his dynamic career, Hassan continues to drive impactful reforms and innovation in public and private sector initiatives, positioning himself as a leader in organizational transformation and risk management.

Medical Stores Department (MSD) was established by the Act of Parliament No.13 of 1993 as an autonomous department under the Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children responsible for developing, maintaining and managing an efficient and cost effective system of procurement, storage and distribution of approved medicines and medical supplies required for use by all public health facilities.
