
Dr. Ritah Mutagonda is an experienced pharmacist and senior lecturer at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS), where she currently serves as the Acting Dean of the School of Pharmacy. With over two decades of experience in academia, research, and professional training, she has been instrumental in advancing pharmaceutical education and promoting research on drug effectiveness, safety, and regulation. As a researcher, she has published several papers in peer-reviewed international journals.
Dr. Mutagonda has led and facilitated various capacity-building initiatives, including training programs on clinical pharmacy services, ethical and clinical trial guidelines, and pharmacovigilance. She has also contributed to the development of Tanzania’s National Pharmacovigilance Roadmap, reviewed the HIV Patient Monitoring System, and played a key role in designing pharmacovigilance training curricula.
Dr. Mutagonda holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Pharmacology and a Master’s in Research in Pharmacology and Therapeutics from MUHAS. She has specialized training in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) inspection, providing her with expertise in the ethical and regulatory aspects of clinical research.

Dr. Mutagonda serves as a Board Member of the Pharmacy Council of Tanzania. Her leadership and expertise continue to shape pharmaceutical governance, regulatory compliance, and healthcare policy in Tanzania.
